John Norquist is the former Mayor of Milwaukee and the retired president of Congress for New Urbanism. He will talk about Jane Jacobs, author of “Death and Life of Great American Cities", who would have been 100 on May 4th. He will talk about the effect she has had on the development, planning and revitalization of cities in the US and around the world. Jacobs was known for her powerful opposition to the urban renewal czar Robert Moses of New York City in his attempt to put a freeway through Washington Square Park.
