Health care in the United States is in the midst of profound changes including a shift from fee-for-service to capitated care, consolidation of health care service providers, and increasing reliance on imperfect quality measures tied to reimbursement.  These changes are impacting the care of seriously ill and dying patients who consume an inordinate amount of health care resources.  In January 2015 The Palliative Care Network of Wisconsin was formed to help advocate for improved care for the seriously ill through advocacy, education and systems change.  David E. Weissman, MD will describe efforts in Wisconsin to improve care for patients and families facing a serious illness.
