The USOC, US Speedskating, international cycling, and major league baseball: Mike Plant has been a leader in all of those, and each would be a fascinating topic. Milwaukee has a singular legacy in speedskating on the former outdoor Olympic Oval, where Mike trained for the 1980 Winter Games, and, since 1992, in the Pettit Center. On the “eve” of the 2014 Winter Games in Sochi, Mike shared his candid perspective on the sport of speedskating, his recruitment to be President of the US Speedskating Board, the role of the Pettit Center, plus his experience as US Chef de Mission for the 2010 Winter Games.
